Frequently Asked Questions About Insurance for Medical Nutrition Therapy

Q: If I make an appointment with one of the dietitians at Alamo Nutritian Consultants, does that mean that my visit with the dietitian will be paid by my insurance plan?

A: No. This site lists what plans we are an in-network provider of nutrition counseling for. You can either contact your insurance company to see if nutrition counseling is covered or give ANC a call with your insurance information and we can follow up as well!

Q: How do I get help to find out my health care coverage and explantion of benefits?

ANC can help. Either email or call us with the following information:

  • Your name

  • Date of birth

  • Member ID number

  • Group number

  • (if you are not the primary on the insurance, we will need the name of that person)

  • the reason you are needing nutrition counseling (weight management, diabetes education, high cholesterol, gastrointestinal issues etc)

Some plans may require a referral from your primary care physician. If this is the case, you will need to contact them to see if they can send us the referral. We can walk you through how to do this as well.

Call Alamo Nutrition Consultants and we will be happy to discuss any questions you have regarding the insurance approval process at 210-971-0044.
